  3. This Virex® Virus Update is part of Datawatch's ongoing commitment to deliver the best virus protection available.  Virex® Virus Update 1-Nov-96 will update Virex versions 5.5 and later to the most recent and complete set of virus definitions as of November 1, 1996.

  30. To install this Virex Virus Update:

  32. • Double-click on the “Virex® Virus Update 1-Nov-96” file. The Virex application will launch, presenting the following dialog:

  45. • If you have Virex 5.5.4 or earlier, dialogs similar to the following may appear for some virus definitions contained in the “Virex® Virus Update 1-Nov-96” file:

  58. • If you are presented with a dialog similar to the above, click on "Replace".

  60. • Diagnose or Repair your system after installation to ensure it is free of the new viruses.

  63. KNOWN PROBLEMS
  64.  
  65. Under some circumstances, the Virex Control Panel's “Scan Files When Opened” feature is unable to detect macro viruses in documents opened in Word or Excel.  At this time, you should not depend on this feature to detect Word/Excel macro viruses.  We suggest scanning these documents with one of Virex's many other automatic or manual scanning features until we have resolved this problem.

To ensure superior protection against the rapid proliferation of new Macro viruses, Datawatch is now publishing monthly Virex Virus Update files.  These virus updates will also be incorporated into each new release of the Virex product.  However, new versions of Virex are not always released at the time of each update.  Even if you have the latest version of Virex, be sure you have also installed the latest update file.
